Theatres to shut down in India on February 23
Protesting against the centre's decision to levy a 10.3% service tax on Indian cinema, theatres across the country will shut down on February 23, a Thursday.
It may be mentioned a few a months back the centre had forced a service tax of 10.3% on films. This was followed by a lot of confusion among tinsel town celebs for they weren't sure of who will pay this huge tax, the distributor of the film or the tax exhibitor!
Thus, the FFI (Film Federation of India) has announced this shut down
of theatres all over the country, to show their protest against the centre's
imposition of 10.3% tax on films.
